One Week Til I Rock And Roll Through Savannah!! Plus We Run Social Meet-Up
/Where the HECK does the time go?
It really feels like I decided to run Rock 'n' Roll Savannah like yesterday, but nope that was February! February my friends.
And now the race is one tiny week away! Ahhhhh...
I am not freakin' out over the race, which is great. This will be my third marathon of 2015. CRAZY!!!
When I originally registered for the race I thought of lofty time goals for the run. Since then I have taken a step back from that. Whatever happens time wise will happen.
Why the change?
Well I tacked on a ton of races to my schedule since registering for this race back in February. So I ended up running and traveling more than I had originally expected. I tweaked my training plan to fit them in, but still that takes a toll on your body.
But deep down I think I am psyching myself out with the times. They still don't seem really attainable to me. I know I need to work on my self-confidence when it comes to my running, but we can save that for a different blog post.
So my new goal for Savannah isn't really a new goal at all. It is my #1 goal for all races:
HAVE FUN!
If I PR that will be a treat! For those that don't know my current PR is from this very same race in 2012: 3:58:49! It is my one and only sub-4 marathon to date. It would be great to have another, but I want to take the time pressure off of myself since I know I am not at 100% physically.
It was a relief when I opted to do that. Now I can focus on the fun & selfies. ;) Oh and the bling!!!
Next weekend will feature three races in total: Marathon on Saturday and a 5k and 1-miler on Sunday!
That's right friends! I will walk away from the weekend with not 1, but 4 medals! HOLLAH!!!
I want to thank Essentia Water for keeping me properly hydrated during training. As I've learned through this training cycle, it isn't about the amount of water you drink, but the type.
I'd also like to thank Chocolate Milk for sponsoring me for this race and helping me refuel all year long!!
My final 20-mile training run was great. I used my front porch as a water stop. I felt strong throughout the run and went in to it without any time focus.
The difference on race day is really my snack and potty breaks. I stop my Garmin when I take bathroom breaks during training runs, but you can't do that on race day. It's like I need to build those into the overall goal. Plus I will sacrifice time/pace for a good selfie. Just sayin'! ;)
