I saw this shirt on a girl running along the Charles River the other day! I wanted to steal it from her... then I figured if I wanted one that badly I could always buy my own.
Why did I like it so much? Because I HATE when folks put others down for their workout choices. I support folks doing WHATEVER they enjoy during as exercise.
When I woke up this morning - besides giving myself a little high-five for the blog turning 4 - I realized two upcoming races were also going down on the 26th of the month. Yes yes I am a MathNerd and Numbers Dork. I accept it.
So which races are also taking place on the 26th of the month?
On this episode of #DaniDishes, it's celebration time as the blog turns 4 and this weekend brings fun in the sun at the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego marathon!!
I'm finally giving the Squarespace app a try for blog writing! So many times I am on the road and don't really want to drag my laptop with me - especially through airport security lines. BUT I hate missing out on sharing adventures with you in the moment.
No I don't have a new job to celebrate. No I didn't weigh in a day early and see awesome results. No I didn't win the lottery thus being able to run all the races, drink all the beers and collect all the medals. No I didn't become a Run Disney ambassador (but that would kick ass). None of that.
Today I am celebrating some tiny yet major victories! Yes I am keeping that oxymoron there... deal! :P
I've raced in 5 out of the 6 New England States. I easily checked off Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island (neither a rhode nor and island - discuss), Connecticut and Maine.
But that darn state of Vermont has been alluding me for years.
Well that will all end in 2015!
For I have FINALLY found a race to run in the great state of Vermont.
Do you want to know what it is?
Are you on the edge of your seat?
Are you holding your breath until I reveal it?
Well don't do that that's not safe! C'mon people breathing is #1 to live!
Okay okay... so both the wife and I will be taking part in...
I want to thank the people at Biggest Loser Race Series for wanting to partner with Weight Off My Shoulders for this event and sponsoring my wife and I.
I love being at the Finish Line to cheer the wife in!

I mean you had me at medal and FREE race photos!! Am I right?
Additionally the courses at this race have a twist:
Participants run/walk down the mountain, then take the ski lift back up and continue along with breathtaking views of Killington Peak, the second highest peak in Vermont. The 5K course goes through beautiful downtown Killington while the half marathon route, great for someone's first half marathon, travels along rustic wooded roads with stunning views of the Green Mountains.
So can this make up for me missing riding Expedition Everest during the Disney Marathon last year?
The course definitely sounds/looks challenging, but who isn't up for a challenge. The wife and I are ready to tackle this bad boy.
And we want you to join us!! Both the 5k and Half Marathon kick off at 8:30am on July 26.
Use code WEIGHTOFFMS to get 20% off registration!! For more fun, join our team Weight Off My Shoulders! We would get a sweet group photo!! Just sayin'! :)

I'm psyched to cross off the 6th and final New England state off my race bucket list. Will I see you there????
Who IGNITES your Passion? What IGNITES your Passion?
When do you IGNITE your Passion?
Why do you IGNITE your Passion?
Where do you IGNITE your Passion?
My answers to the above questions could go on for days, but I only have a limited window on this blog to grab your attention to share what I am really passionate about. Hey! I know you have Twitter and Facebook to get back to. I understand.
So today I will keep it easy and straightforward. I'll answer the most important of these potential questions...
... the how!
How do you IGNITE your Passion?
Since embarking on my final weight loss journey (the one that actually stuck) in 2009, I have vowed to motivate and inspire those around me to live healthy/balanced lives and to push the boundaries of their comfort zones.
Can I sum up my Passion in a single word or image? Probably not. Buuuttt I can come super close with this snapshot from the 2013 Boston Marathon - my 3rd marathon and first Boston.
I was frightened. This was the Super Bowl of marathons. But I was there with Tedy's Team in honor of my Stroke Heroes - my grandparents and my Father-In-Law - to help raise awareness and to fight Stroke.
Taking on the endeavor of the marathon and fundraising pushed me so far out of my comfort zone by body lost sight of it. THAT experience taught me more than I would expect.
It fueled my desire to push my body physically, mentally and emotionally. I wanted to rise to the occasion and learn the stories of other Stroke survivors/caretakers.
And now? Now I am gearing up for my 3rd Boston Marathon (t-minus 3 weeks) with Tedy's Team. The fire in my soul burning bright as the training miles pack on and the fundraising adds up (almost $23k in 3 years).
This passion and journey has grown bigger and brighter than I could've imagined...
Yet it was all ignited with a single decision!
And now PUMA wants to help YOU ignite your Passion through their new IGNITE line!
I was super excited to test out all of the pieces I received. I slipped into the PR Pure Fitted S/S tee first.
Thank tanks offered a mesh insert for improved air circulation and flat-lock seams for less friction and higher comfort.
CoolCELL highly functional materials draw sweat away from your skin while anatomically placed air-flow features offer you superior temperature regulation. And this sweaty/smelly girl appreciates that and the Cleansport NXT finish to ensure odor control. I mean who feels me on that??? I cannot be alone!
I paired the thank with the Essential 3/4 tights, which are made with highly functional materials to draw sweat away from the skin and help keep you dry and comfortable during exercise.
I really appreciated the Power Mesh internal waistband for additional tummy support and comfort, and waistband pocket for secure storage. Adios uncomfortable muffin top while working out.
While the outfit made me feel sleek and ready to crush a PR... I felt like I needed some color. Ya know?
Let's just check out the color description first: deep blue-team italia navy-FLUO PEACH. Umm yeah! Delicious. Can a shoe color be delicious? Well I'm making it a thing.
The Ignite Shoe offers:
Energy Return - Full length IGNITED foam midsole’s PU blend offers high rebound cushioning
Step in Comfort - Ignite foam provides instant comfort where you need it most
Long-Lasting Performance - Foreverfoam is used in the heel to disperse impact and provide extra durability
The Ignites main focus -
Maximum energy in for maximum energy out so
you can stop running and start IGNITING
